Physical Therapist

Job Summary

The Staff Physical Therapist works with pediatric patients across the age continuum – infants, children, adolescents – and from diverse socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds providing both direct and indirect patient care services. Under general direction and upon receipt of written referrals, the Staff Physical Therapist plans and administers a full range of physical therapy services for patients with a variety of physical and cognitive impairments and functional limitations. 

The Staff Physical Therapist maintains all applicable patient records related to the delivery of patient care services.  While performing job duties, the Staff Physical Therapist may also supervise support personnel including Rehabilitation Aides as well as Physical Therapy students.  The Staff Physical Therapist actively participates in departmental and organizational programs, including quality and performance improvement activities, clinical education programs, and in-services and staff development activities.

Required Qualifications

  • DPT Doctoral graduate degree
    • If graduated 15 or more years ago, a bachelor’s degree
  • Minimum three years related patient care experience.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to recognize signs of distress.
  • Basic computer skills including work within Epic electronic medical record
  • Possession of good interpersonal, time management, problem solving and self-initiation skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Minimum one year of licensed experience as a Physical Therapist working with pediatric populations within primary care setting (eg. Outpatient Pediatrics).
  • Prior physical therapy experience in an academic medical center environment. 
  • Prior experience working on an interdisciplinary health provider team. 
  • Relevant experience working with patients with chronic/complex pain and/or palliative care
  • Flexibility to work occasional weekends or evenings to support the PPIM
  • Board-certified Pediatric Clinical Specialist

License/Certification

  • Possession of licensure as a Physical Therapist by the Physical Therapy Board of California.
  • Possession of or proven eligibility for CPR certification.
