Job Description

As an RN in the Emergency Department, you will be responsible for quickly assessing patients, determining the severity of their conditions, and providing immediate interventions. Your role will include working under pressure to stabilize patients, making critical decisions, and collaborating with the healthcare team to ensure patient safety and well-being.

Key Responsibilities

  • Use nursing process and critical thinking skills to assess and care for patients.
  • Plan and delegate tasks to other healthcare staff based on patient assessments.
  • Evaluate patient responses and modify care plans as needed.
  • Provide education to patients and families regarding treatments, medications, and self-care needs.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary rounds and facilitate discharge planning.
  • Document care plans, interventions, and patient responses according to hospital standards.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and participate in quality monitoring efforts.
  • Coordinate and collaborate with physicians and multidisciplinary team members to meet patient goals.

Required Qualifications

  • Education: Associate degree in Nursing (required), BSN or enrollment in a BSN program (preferred).
  • License: Current Registered Nurse (RN) License in Illinois.
  • Certifications: BLS and ACLS (required).
  • Experience: 1-3 years of experience in an Emergency Department (required).

Preferred Qualifications

  • BSN or current enrollment in a BSN program.
  • PALS certification is a plus.
  • Experience in high-acuity patient care and emergency situations.
