Job Title: Registered Nurse (Acute Care)

Location: Coldwater, MI

Position Summary:
We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Registered Nurse (RN) to join our acute care team. The RN will assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care provided to patients, ensuring a patient- and family-centered approach. The successful candidate will work in collaboration with physicians and healthcare providers to deliver safe, high-quality care that aligns with best practices and evidence-based standards.

Key Responsibilities:

Patient & Family-Centered Care:

  • Provide compassionate and coordinated care, respecting patient preferences, values, and needs.
  • Engage patients and families as active partners in their care.
  • Educate patients and families on care plans, treatments, and self-care management strategies.
  • Ensure smooth care transitions by collaborating with the healthcare team.

Evidence-Based Practice:

  • Integrate clinical expertise with current evidence and patient preferences to deliver optimal care.
  • Develop and adjust individualized care plans based on clinical findings and patient feedback.

Nursing Practice:

  • Assess patient conditions, formulate nursing diagnoses, and implement care plans.
  • Perform comprehensive nursing care, including medication administration and documentation.
  • Provide proactive interventions to promote optimal patient outcomes.

Safety & Quality Improvement:

  • Administer medications and treatments safely following established protocols.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient safety and care quality.
  • Utilize technology to improve care delivery and minimize errors.

Informatics & Technology:

  • Maintain accurate electronic health records, documenting interventions, patient responses, and outcomes.
  • Respond effectively to clinical decision-making tools and alerts to improve care efficiency.

Communication, Teamwork & Collaboration:

  • Foster open communication and mutual respect with patients, families, and care teams.
  • Serve as the coordinator of the patient’s care plan, ensuring alignment with the healthcare team.
  • Escalate clinical concerns appropriately using established communication protocols.

Leadership & Professionalism:

  • Demonstrate leadership by guiding team members, promoting systems thinking, and facilitating change.
  • Maintain accountability for your nursing practice and follow established processes for delegation and supervision.

Systems-Based Practice:

  • Participate in healthcare system initiatives to improve care delivery.
  • Conduct bedside reporting, meaningful hourly rounding, and escalate concerns to maintain patient safety and satisfaction.

Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:
  • Education: Completion of an accredited nursing program. Must complete 25 contact hours of continuing education during licensure period (including 2 hours on pain management and 1 hour on implicit bias training).
  • License: Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Michigan.
  • Certification: Current CPR certification; specialty certifications as required.
  • Skills:
  • Proficient in nursing procedures and basic nursing skills.
  • Strong critical thinking, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to effectively respond to urgent situations.
  • Team-oriented with a commitment to patient-centered care.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.

Working Conditions:

  • Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and adherence to infection control protocols.
  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, and lifting during patient care activities.
  • Must be able to manage exposure to various environmental factors such as chemicals, temperature changes, and bodily fluids.
