Surgical Services Manager (RN)

Salary: $126,152 – $164,008 annually
Sign-On Bonus: Up to $30,000

Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Surgical Services Manager to provide leadership and operational oversight for Surgical Services, including the Operating Room (OR), Outpatient Surgical Services, Anesthesia, and Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU). This leadership role is responsible for ensuring high-quality patient care, regulatory compliance, fiscal management, staff development, and continuous quality improvement initiatives. The ideal candidate will possess strong peri-operative nursing expertise, proven management experience, and a passion for creating a culture of safety, excellence, and patient-centered care.
Key Responsibilities
- Direct and oversee daily operations of Surgical Services, including OR, PACU, Anesthesia, and Outpatient Surgery.
- Lead, mentor, and supervise clinical and non-clinical staff.
- Manage staffing, scheduling, budgeting, departmental resources, and operational performance.
- Ensure compliance with Joint Commission (TJC), state, federal, and organizational standards.
- Develop and implement quality improvement initiatives focused on patient safety and clinical outcomes.
- Coordinate visiting specialists and maintain efficient surgical scheduling.
- Monitor departmental performance metrics and implement action plans for improvement.
- Promote evidence-based practice and adherence to AORN guidelines and perioperative standards.
- Foster a culture of teamwork, accountability, communication, and continuous improvement.
- Support patient experience and family-centered care initiatives.
Qualifications
Required
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing or eligibility for Alaska licensure.
- Minimum of 2 years of Operating Room experience.
- Minimum of 2 years of Surgical Services leadership or management experience.
- Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications.
- Strong knowledge of peri-operative nursing practices and regulatory standards.
Preferred
- BSN required; MSN or Master’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Nursing, or Business Administration preferred.
- CNOR (Certified Nurse Operating Room) certification.
- CSSM (Certified Surgical Services Manager) certification.
- Experience with Cerner Electronic Health Records.
- Knowledge of budgeting, reimbursement, coding, and fiscal management.
