Job Description
We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Director of Labor and Delivery to provide strategic and operational leadership for the Labor & Delivery department. This role is responsible for ensuring high-quality, safe, and compassionate care for mothers, newborns, and families.
The Director will oversee clinical operations, staff development, regulatory compliance, quality improvement initiatives, staffing, and departmental resources. The Director will collaborate with physicians, midwives, nursing leaders, neonatal teams, and interdisciplinary teams to support excellent patient outcomes and a positive patient and staff experience.
Salary: $126,880 – $145,912 annually, depending on education and experience.
Additional compensation may include a sign-on bonus, relocation assistance, and employer-provided housing, based on candidate qualifications and organizational needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide leadership and operational oversight for the Labor & Delivery department.
- Ensure safe, high-quality patient care.
- Lead recruitment, mentorship, and professional development of nursing and clinical staff.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory, accreditation, and hospital standards.
- Monitor departmental performance and lead quality improvement initiatives.
- Collaborate with physicians, midwives, neonatal teams, and hospital leadership.
- Manage departmental staffing, resources, and budget.
- Support efficient and effective department operations.
- Promote positive patient and staff experiences.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required.
- Master’s degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, or a related field required.
- Minimum of 10 years of Labor & Delivery clinical experience.
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive leadership or management experience in a healthcare setting.
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Colorado or ability to obtain.
- BLS certification required.
- ACLS certification required.
- NRP certification required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Additional maternal or neonatal certifications.
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Experience with quality improvement initiatives.
- Experience working with interdisciplinary healthcare teams.
