CLINICAL NURSE I – OPERATING ROOM

As a Clinical Nurse I in the Operating Room (OR) at Newport Beach, you’ll provide direct inpatient care aligned with the California Nurse Practice Act and the mission of our Patient Care Services Division. This role involves utilizing evidence-based practices, coordinating perioperative care, and collaborating with a specialized team to deliver the highest quality care.

You’ll care for pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients needing surgical or procedural interventions across multiple specialties, including Neurosurgery, Orthopedics, Gynecology, and more. Cases range from routine to critical, with both inpatient and outpatient procedures.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct and document assessments, interventions, and discharge plans.
  • Communicate changes in patient status to the Charge Nurse, Supervisor, and physicians.
  • Ensure continuity of care through effective use of the patient’s Plan of Care (POC).
  • Respond promptly to emergencies.
  • Administer medications and IV therapy accurately and assess their effects.
  • Educate patients and families, tailoring materials to their understanding.

Requirements

  • Active California RN License. 
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. 
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN). If you haven’t obtained a BSN upon hire, you will be asked to begin a BSN program within one year of the hire date and obtain your BSN within two years of starting the program. 
  • A minimum of two (2) years of acute care experience in an Operating Room as a Circulating Nurse. 
  • On-call availability. 

Preferred  

  • BSN. 
  • Additional skills and knowledge of various equipment and software may be required. 
  • CNOR certification.
