Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Medical Physicist to join our team. This role is crucial in ensuring optimal, safe, and effective patient care related to diagnosis and radiation treatment. Our Radiation Oncology Centers are ASTRO APEx accredited and our cancer program is MD Anderson credentialed, ensuring the highest standards of care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Determine relative dosimetry characteristics for various types of radiation (e.g., high-energy X-rays, electrons) and radiation-producing equipment.
  • Perform final reviews of treatment plans to ensure accuracy and safety.
  • Oversee treatment planning systems, including plan reviews and Isodose verification.
  • Provide technical direction for radiation therapy to ensure safe and effective treatment delivery.
  • Compute and verify tumor doses, establishing and monitoring basic dosage levels.
  • Conduct linear accelerator beam analysis, periodic calibration, and maintenance.
  • Assist in evaluating diagnostic and treatment modalities to maximize patient outcomes.
  • Participate in treatment planning, patient monitoring, and ensuring delivery accuracy.
  • Lead patient-specific quality assurance (QA) procedures.
  • Guide technology assessment, planning, and major equipment purchases.
  • Perform equipment, software, and systems acceptance testing and commissioning.
  • Follow all healthcare privacy and safety regulations while adhering to core organizational values.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Master’s degree in Physics, Medical Physics, Nuclear Engineering, or Biophysics (Doctorate preferred).
  • Certification: Must hold certification in Therapeutic Medical Physics (or equivalent) from one of the following:
  • American Board of Radiology (ABR)
  • American Board of Medical Physics (ABMP)
  • Canadian College of Physicists in Medicine (CCPM)
  • Experience: Minimum of two years’ clinical experience in a major radiation center.
