Position Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated Surgical Technologist to join our team and provide patient care second to none. This role involves assisting in neuro/spine, orthopedic, pain management, and other surgeries, ensuring that all procedures are performed safely and efficiently under the guidance of a surgeon. The Surgical Technologist is an expert in aseptic techniques and plays a crucial role in patient safety and the effectiveness of surgical procedures.
Candidates for this position should be meticulous, patient-focused, and able to function efficiently in high-pressure environments. The ability to anticipate the needs of the surgeon and other surgical staff is critical, along with utilizing critical thinking skills to facilitate the best possible patient care.
Must-Have Requirements:
● Certification or Diploma in Surgical Technology Program (Required)
● Associate degree (Preferred)
● Surgical Technologist Certification (CST) (Required)
● Specialization in Orthopedic and Spine Surgeries (Preferred)
● CPR Certification (Required)
● Experience:
○ 1 Year of Neuro/Ortho experience (Required)
○ 2-3 years of Neuro/Ortho experience (Preferred)
● License/Certification:
○ BLS (Basic Life Support) (Required)
○ CPR (Required)
○ Surgical Scrub Tech Certification (Required)
Duties and Responsibilities:
● Assist in Surgical Procedures: Perform scrubbing and assisting duties within the sterile field during operative procedures, supporting the surgeon and surgical team.
● Anticipate Needs: Anticipate the needs of the acting surgeon and staff, passing instruments and supplies while using critical thinking to ensure everything is in place.
● Instrument and Equipment Maintenance: Ensure proper care and maintenance of all surgical instruments and equipment by following established policies and procedures.
● Aseptic Technique: Demonstrate and apply principles of aseptic technique to maintain the sterile field and ensure patient safety.
● Surgical Instrument Knowledge: Possess thorough knowledge of surgical instruments, equipment, procedures, implants, and supplies used in the operating room.
● Patient Draping: Assist with the draping of patients and the setup of the sterile field.
● Surgical Counts: Work closely with circulating nurses to ensure proper instrument, sharp, and sponge counts before, during, and after surgery.
● OR Turnover and Cleaning: Assist with OR turnover and cleaning between procedures, preparing the space for the next patient case.
● Work Under Pressure: Maintain composure and demonstrate patience, tact, stamina, and endurance in high-pressure situations to deliver the highest level of patient care.
